Learn more about the main parts of a Joomla 3 site.

Let’s look at a default Joomla installation in some of the samples, use the default template Joomla3 – protostar. After installing Joomla sample data, you’ll see something that will help you get used to the Joomla faster. In this tutorial, we will provide you with information about this default Joomla layout, and how to manage the details of its different components. First, take a look at this picture:


  • The title of your Joomla site.

This is the main title of your site. To change this to a more meaningful title text, you first need to log in to your Joomla administration area to enter the System -> Global Configuration.


On this page, locate the site name tags, change the text next to it. For the purposes of this tutorial, we will change it to “our new Joomla Website title!” When finished, click the green button to save the upper left corner of the page.


Now, you can go to your Joomla site’s home page, to see a new champion.


  • Horizontal menu of modules displayed.

The core of Joomla 3 menu is actually a link to a different part of your website or external URL is listed. They look and where they are placed depends on the template you use your site. In our example, the menu module is released to position 1 position. This position directly below the main site title template code to add. Edit this menu, it’s the project, you need to go to Menu -> Main Menu.

  • Right content above title picture.

This is simply added to the image location just above the main content. In this particular case, the image is generated by a custom HTML module. In it, like an increase in regular HTML.

  • MLA article you want to display on the home page.

This is the main part of your website Joomla3 – your actual content. Here, you can show a different format to one or more items according to your needs.   • Right column and the login form, and its recently published article module.

This and its two modules (the latest articles and login) column / row position. Most templates that supports one or two – usually the left, right, and they show only when you have published in their modules. For example, the default template protostar support one, two, or as shown in the following screenshot no column layout:

  • In the bread crumbs at the bottom of the module on your site.

Similar menu, login form last article, which is only in the content of your main website published another module. This time, it is the default Joomla breadcrumbs module. This is for your users to navigate very useful, so we recommend that you use it, if not its own website in an appropriate location.
