If the product sorting feature in WooCommerce is a waste of space, or you do not need it at all, you may want to remove it by PHP instead of CSS. It’s just a cleaner solution. Here is the code you need to put in your functions.php template file.

Goal: Delete the “default sort”

Snippet: Deletes the “Default sort” drop-down menu from the store and cat pages.

// remove default sorting dropdown

remove_action( 'woocommerce_before_shop_loop', 'woocommerce_catalog_ordering', 30 );

Remove the Default Sort drop-down menu from the StoreFront topic.

// remove default sorting dropdown in StoreFront Theme

add_action('init','delay_remove');

function delay_remove() {
remove_action( 'woocommerce_after_shop_loop', 'woocommerce_catalog_ordering', 10 );
remove_action( 'woocommerce_before_shop_loop', 'woocommerce_catalog_ordering', 10 );
}
