How to Create a Clean, Glossy Plastic Text Effect in Adobe Photoshop

Using multiple layer styles can help achieve a more detailed look and 3D effects. This tutorial will show you how to use layer styles, filters, textures, brushes and adjustment layers in Adobe Photoshop to create a shiny, clean plastic text effect. let’s start!

To load contours used, go to Edit> Preset> Preset Manager and select from a preset contour type drop-down menu. Then click on the small arrow to the right of the Preset Type drop-down menu and click close the pop-up menu at the bottom contour.

When the dialog box appears, simply click the Add, you will get profile. You also need to load the default set of Photoshop gradients. So go from the Preset Type drop-down menu Edit> Preset> Preset Manager and select gradient. Then click on the small arrow to the right of the Preset Type drop-down menu and click the top color harmony 1 In the pop-up menu. When the dialog box appears, click Append.

1. Create a background

step 1
Create a new 900 × 675px document. Set the foreground color to # 2c353c and background color to # 191919. Gradient selection tool, select the Foreground to Background gradient fill, and then click the linear gradient icon.

Then, click the upper right corner and create a background gradient from the bottom left corner drag files.

Step 2

2. Create a text layer

Create extra bold font fearless all uppercase text. Color # e5eaec, size is 230 pounds and is set to the optical kerning and tracking value is set to 100.

3. Create a layer stroke

Double-click the original text layer with the following settings apply stroke effect:

4. The Main stroke layer style

Double-click again the original text layer to apply some additional effects.

Top 5. styled stroke

Double-click the stroke 1 layer apply the following layer styles:

6. Add shadow

step 1
Double-click the layer 2 stroke apply shadow effect with the following settings:

  • Distance: 15

This will add a shadow to the bottom of the stroke.

7. Copy the text layer style Homepage
Double-click the first copy of the text layer to apply the following layer styles:

  • Size: 1
  • Fill Type: Gradual

Add Inner Shadow using these settings:

  • Mixed Mode: Normal

This is the first layer of style and color of the text inside. You can change the color of the shadow in the value of any other color you like.

8. The second style of the text layer

Double-click the second copy of the text layer to apply the following layer styles:

  • Uncheck the Use Global Light box
  • Angle: 108
  • Elevation: 42
  • Check the Anti-aliased box
  • Highlight Mode: Bright

Click Gloss Contour: Create contour icon used below. You need to do is you’ve got extra points along the line click. Then, each point you add, you can enter it in the input and output values, and check the angle of the box.

Values for the two points are:

  • Point – Input – Output
  • The above points –71–72
  • Under point –42–34

9. The third copy styled text layer

Double-click the third copy text layer to apply the following layer styles:

  • Uncheck the Use Global Light box

  • Elevation: 64
  • Check the Anti-aliased box
  • Highlight Mode: Bright
  • Shadow mode – Opacity: 24%

10. The shape of the fourth copy text layer

Double-click the fourth copy text layer apply the following layer styles:

  • Uncheck the Use Global Light box
  • Angle: 108
  • Elevation: 74
  • Check the Anti-aliased box
  • Highlight Mode: Bright
  • Shadow mode – Opacity: 0%

11. Create a text textures

step 1
Set foreground and background colors to black and white, on top of all the new layer a layer named text texture, go to Filter> Render> Clouds.

Go to Filter> Filter Gallery> Brush Strokes> Accented Edges, and then change the width of the edge 2, edge 38 brightness, and smoothness of 5.

13. Brush with water splash background

step 1
Pick up the brush tool, and select one of the secrets spray brush. Set the foreground color to # e8ecef, create a new layer above the background texture layer and call it splash, and then adjust the brush tip to the size you like, then click to add it later in the text.

Double-click the Splash layer apply the following layer styles:

  • Gloss Contour: Ring

Change the light and padding values to 35% in a mixed mode splash layer.

14. Add sparkle and adjust coloring
step 1

Create a new layer on top of all of a layer, it sparkle, and change its blending mode to light. Abstract stars and brush one flare kit brush, reduce its size, and at the edge of some of the letters to add some spark. You can control the tilt angle as well as in the Brushes panel (Window> Brushes) Brush Tip Shape tab.

Click the bottom of the Layers panel to create a new fill or adjustment layer icon and select the gradient map.

Use orange, blue, magenta, yellow gradient fill, and then change the adjustment layer’s blending mode to Multiply and its Opacity to 3%. The effect is very subtle, but it helps to improve the final result of coloring.

In this tutorial, we created a simple background using a linear gradient and a texture. Then we created the text, and duplicated its layer to apply different layer styles.
We added a stroke to some layers, and applied the layer styles using different effects and values in order to create layers of shine and gloss that have a 3D appearance.
Once all the text layers were styled, we used simple filters to create a basic texture that makes the effect a bit more dynamic.
Finally, we added a splash brush to the background and styled it, as well as some sparkles to the edges of some of the letters, and a gradient overlay adjustment layer to enhance a coloring of the final result.
