The story goes that previous 7 days, a Tesla Design S drove by a flooded tunnel in Kazakhstan. It’s not obvious in the video down below if the car was in fact floating, but that did not prevent Elon Musk from having to Twitter to convert the video into a bit of Tesla marketing and advertising.
We *def* really don’t proposed this, but Design S floats nicely adequate to convert it into a boat for short intervals of time. Thrust by means of wheel rotation.

Musk unsuccessful to suggest the particulars about what tends to make the Design S buoyant adequate to float. Nonetheless as an electric powered vehicle, the Design S does not depend on air like an inner combustion motor so, in principle, the car’s devices should really be capable to run underwater (or on drinking water) as prolonged as they’re thoroughly sealed against the drinking water pressure.
Really don’t check out this with your Design S, however. As Electrek points out, Tesla’s warranty does not go over drinking water harm.
